John Gray is a contemporary British artist, born in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. In 1994, he completed his BA at Leeds Metropolitan University and he was selected by the Curwen Gallery to exhibit in ‘The Seventh Northern Graduates Exhibition’ in London and Sunderland.

 

Primarily, John has exhibited in London, participating in studio opens with Space and group shows at Gallery Fine, the Curwen Gallery, Advanced Graphics London and with the artist group FOAD. Additionally, he has had two solo exhibitions at Advanced Graphics London. His work has also been featured at art fairs in London, Glasgow, and New York. In 2022, he was chosen by Grayson Perry for the Royal Academy Summer Show. His artwork is featured in the corporate collections of Pizza Express, the Eton School Art Collection, and CBRE.

 

Residing in London, John works in his garden studio. His paintings draw inspiration from the still life genre, often combining pencil drawing and oil paint. His artistic influences include J.M.W. Turner, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Cy Twombly.
